RESOLUTIONS OF THE MEETING TO DISCUSS THE CONFLICT BEETWEEN THE COMMUNITIES LIVING ALONG THE GARISSA AND WAJIR BORDER SUPPORTED BY THE NATIONAL COHESION AND INTEGRATION COMMISSION.
We the undersigned representing the Garissa and wajir communities having met today the Wednesday 15th June 2016 at
Almond resort Garissa to discuss the recent and• recurring conflict
along the border between Garissa and Wajir counties under the chairmanship of the Hon.
Senator M.Y HAJI resolved as follows:
That there should be immediate Cession of hostilities.
All Parties should ensure that no further aggression occurs.
All the communities should cooperate with the government in the mopping up of illegal fire arms.
This meeting commends both parties for paying without hesitation "Saben", Burial expenses and committing to eventually pay blood compen sation .
We support the convening of a meeting to deal with the outstanding issues relating to boundary which will tentatively be held two weeks after the end of Rainadan 2016.
We strongly urge the National Government to prepare to speedily delineate the wajir Garissa boundary after theconsultations by the communities have been concluded.
We authorize representatives of both parties to with immediate effect visit the areas affected by the conflict to convey the resolutions passed in this meeting and Publicize subsequent activities aimed at resolving the conflict.
We encourage communities on both sides to continue collaborating in the return of lost livestock and support the resettlement of displaced persons and any other effor ts towards peaceful co-existence.
We further recomr:
